To support businesses in fully resuming operations and production, and to effectively strengthen outreach and services for young Party, Youth League, and corporate employees, we’ve mobilized young professionals to contribute to the stable functioning of their workplaces. At the same time, we aim to fully leverage the pivotal role of grassroots Party and Youth League organizations by providing tailored services and organizing engaging activities for young employees. This initiative also pays special tribute to and extends heartfelt condolences to frontline enterprise workers who have been tirelessly supporting pandemic response efforts. Our goal is to ensure that young professionals in Beijing—those steadfastly working to keep businesses running and facilitating the return to normalcy—can enjoy a warm, supportive, and festive Lantern Festival. To this end, Biotech Pharma’s “China-Cuba Brothers United” initiative, in collaboration with Longsheng Community Youth Hub, proudly organized a themed Party and Youth League Day event on February 3, 2023, titled "Supporting Business Resumption: The China-Cuba Brothers Celebrate Lantern Festival Together." The event brought together all members of the branch’s Party cell, youth representatives from various departments, and international Cuban youth participants.
The Lantern Festival is one of China’s traditional festivals, marked by a variety of time-honored folk activities, including admiring lanterns, enjoying tangyuan (sweet rice balls), solving lantern riddles, and setting off fireworks. In addition, many regions have added vibrant traditional performances to the festivities, such as dragon lantern processions, lion dances, stilt walking, dry-boat racing, yangge dancing, and playing the taiping drum. This event also incorporates classic elements like "lantern viewing, riddle-solving, and happily savoring tangyuan," divided into four engaging segments that are brimming with festive joy. First, the branch secretary delivered an opening speech, warmly welcoming eight international young participants from Cuba to join this year’s Lantern Festival celebration. As part of China’s second batch of nationally recognized intangible cultural heritage, the Lantern Festival beautifully blends tradition with modernity—and for the China-Cuba friendship network, it also carries an international dimension. The branch’s publicity officer then shared insights into the founding vision and growth of the Baitai Party branch, encouraging more ambitious young people to actively align themselves with the Party organization and contribute their talents to the company’s development. To help the Cuban international youth gain a deeper appreciation of China’s rich traditional festival culture, after a teacher from the Youth Hub provided an in-depth overview of the Lantern Festival’s origins, historical evolution, folk customs, and cultural significance, the lively Lantern Festival activities officially kicked off.

Enjoying flower lanterns and solving lantern riddles. One by one, red lanterns hung high; strings of riddles waited to be solved—each element brimming with the vibrant spirit of the festival, symbolizing hope and abundance. Drawing inspiration from the beloved Yuanxiao Festival poem "Sheng Cha Zi: Yuanxi," participants were divided into eight lively teams, each competing in a thrilling game of "grabbing the bench." The event was filled with energy, laughter, and pure joy, while the winning team walked away not only exhilarated but also richly rewarded.

Skillfully painted "Rabbit God." This year happens to be the Year of the Rabbit—specifically, the Guǐmǎo Year of the Rabbit. As one of Beijing's intangible cultural heritages, the "Rabbit God" character, adorned with a golden crown, clad in armor, and carrying a command flag on its back, comes alive as a vibrant, heroic figure in the hands of people young and old. This brings joy and the delight of traditional painting to children and adults alike, both at home and abroad, symbolizing the end of the pandemic and promising a brighter, happier future ahead.

Enjoy sweet tangyuan. Tangyuan symbolize the beauty of family togetherness, and eating them signifies a new year filled with happiness and unity for the entire household. Together with our Cuban friends, everyone experienced the heartfelt ritual of this special occasion. Steaming bowls of vibrant, multicolored tangyuan brought smiles to faces and warmth to hearts—truly a moment of perfect harmony and joy.

Let’s take a commemorative photo—may the friendship between China and ancient times endure forever! Vibrant red flags, radiant smiles, and the unchanging bonds of revolutionary friendship were all captured in this unforgettable celebration.
After the event concluded, the young members of the China-Cuba Friendship Association were brimming with energy and wore radiant, happy smiles. They unanimously expressed that the event was both enriching and enjoyable, leaving them eager for more and feeling they’d gained valuable insights. Yaismel, the branch secretary from Cuba, shared her thoughts: "This is my first time celebrating the Lantern Festival in China, and I’ve always been fascinated by Chinese culture. Not only did I get to enjoy solving lantern riddles and even try my hand at painting the traditional Rabbit God figure, but I also savored tangyuan—symbolizing family unity. I absolutely love Chinese culture and hope to learn even more about it in the future while continuing to participate in these vibrant, engaging activities." Osmany echoed her sentiments: "I’m thrilled to have taken part in this event! It was a wonderful opportunity to immerse myself in China’s rich cultural heritage. I especially loved trying out the lantern riddle challenge—it felt so intriguing when my colleagues helped me uncover the meanings behind the clues. And of course, painting the adorable Rabbit God figure and tasting the delicious tangyuan made the whole experience unforgettable!"

As the lanterns light up across countless homes for the Lantern Festival, nothing feels more beautiful than family reunion. Through this series of traditional cultural activities, a vibrant platform has been created for China-Guatemala brothers and young corporate professionals to connect and exchange ideas. While immersing themselves in the rich traditions of this festive season, employees—particularly those from the company’s youth organizations—have had the chance to appreciate the charm of time-honored crafts, enriching their leisure time and fostering a deeper appreciation for China’s cultural heritage. This initiative not only strengthens cultural confidence but also boosts team cohesion, encouraging mutual learning, collaboration, and collective growth. "As greenery begins to sprout and spring mountains come into view," company staff members confidently embark on a new journey, eagerly setting sail toward fresh goals. With renewed determination, they’re ready to roll up their sleeves once again, driving the company’s steady recovery and resumption of growth—and contributing their own dedicated efforts to support this vital momentum.
