On December 3, 2021, the 11th meeting of the China-Cuba Joint Working Group on Biotechnology Cooperation was held online via video conference in Beijing. Mr. Bai Xianhong, Chairman and General Manager of BIOTECH PHARMACEUTICAL CO., LTD, attended the meeting and delivered a report.

The meeting, hosted by China's National Development and Reform Commission, reviewed the progress and lessons learned from biotechnology cooperation between China and Cuba since the 10th session of the Joint Working Group. Amidst the global effort to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting also highlighted the two countries' collaborative achievements and shared experiences in using biotechnology to fight the virus, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to working together in the battle against the epidemic.
At the meeting, Mr. Bai Xianhong, Chairman and General Manager of Biotech Pharma, signed a "virtual" agreement with Cuba's Center for Molecular Immunology for their collaborative project spanning 2021–2023, laying a solid foundation for the further development of Sino-Cuban biotechnology cooperation over the next two years.
Lin Nianxiu, Deputy Director of China's National Development and Reform Commission; Jorge Luis Perdomo, Cuba's Deputy Prime Minister; Ma Hui, Chinese Ambassador to Cuba; Carlos Miguel Pereira, Cuban Ambassador to China; Shen Zhulin, Director-General of the Department of Innovation and High-Tech Development at NDRC; Eduardo Martínez Díaz, Chairman of the Cuban Biomedical Group; heads of relevant ministries and commissions; officials from the development and reform commissions of Beijing Municipality, Jilin Province, Shandong Province, Hubei Province, Hunan Province, and Sichuan Province; as well as representatives from Sino-Cuban biotechnology cooperation enterprises—attended the meeting.
